This is how to use whatsapp without a sim card and piggy back on anothers wifi for your phone calls for free. 

This is more info I'm looking into for free SMS'es etc but the whatsapp route is away easier and likes being free so why mess with legal wrangling to get free phone calls. Whatsapp has 2 billion users worldwide as of Mar 2022, a quarter of the worlds population.

How android open source uses the modem, the layer is callled RIL radio interface layer.
The standard RIL uses the exact same AT modem commands I programmed at option when writing a 3d usb modem driver on a qualcomm chipset.
I am interested in sharing a phone connection via asterisk PABX software running on a raspberry pi with modem or ideally a plain mobile phone.
so africans can make cheap calls over wifi sip etc all sharing the one sim as a PABX over wifi.
8% of an africans income goes to get 1GB of data per month.
They need it more than i do.
It's the only useful bit of software left that I can write that might make a difference as my skills are getting increasingly obselete owing to lazyness.

I am making muel email and internet using gps protocol for the poor in Africa, delivery is done by carrying mail folders by phone or solid state disk from places without internet to a site with free wifi internet connection, the entire worthwhile internet can be delivered  by in a carry on bag full of solid state disks on a cheap commercial flight, a carrier pigeon can deliver 1 terabyte of email. High latency high throughput. Google add support for google searches via email sending back 3 web pages of results and files or i will have to kludge it.  If you think starlink can't be beaten maybe it can, if abaquerre warp drive  gets developed we can go back in time the worlds experiences can be delivered to people in the past via RNA which stores memories or using nuralink or simply by projecting images onto a wall with a projector from the solid state disks this is possibly how psychadellics work.
